Five Healthy Habits for Vision Health

10/14/2018

Many of us rely on healthy vision and take it for granted on a day-to-day basis. Unfortunately, eyesight tends to worsen or improve little by little.

There are things we can do to improve our eyesight and to keep vision healthy. The following tips will help you maintain healthy vision.

Sleep is very important in order to let our eyes get the adequate amount of rest. It is recommended for individuals to sleep a minimum of six hours, with the optimal sleeping period being a full 8 hours.

Getting enough sleep also helps reduce dark under eye circles that many tend to struggle with.

Consuming the right types of food, that deliver the proper nutrients to your body, is essential for maintaining healthy eyesight. Eyes rely on cell repair and the best way to repair cells is to provide it with appropriate nutrition, minerals and vitamins.

Healthy options for eyesight improvement include lots of vegetables, fruits, carrots and calcium. The best minerals for your eyes include vitamins A, B, C and E, as well as magnesium and zinc.

Deficiencies in vitamin A tend to be the main cause of eyesight problems such as night blindness and conjunctival xerosis.
Picture
Taking breaks from staring at either computers or mobile phones is necessary to allow your eyes to recover. Focused attention on screens tends to strain the eyes. A good habit to rest your eyes is to look at something else every twenty minutes. You could also shut your lids for a short time.

Long car journeys are often accompanied by reading. Reading in moving vehicles is stressful on the eyes and can even hurt them.

Try to refrain from reading in buses or cars. If you do need to read, keep blinking and do not let your eyes get dry. Keeping eyes moist is important to maintaining their health. Keeping eyes moist also applies to using computers or anything that can be straining on the eyes.

Be aware of your habits when reading. Many people enjoy lying down in bed and reading before sleep. While this is a great habit, try to sit up with back support as opposed to lying down. As a bonus, it helps to develop good posture and back muscles.

Reading or looking at screens in the dark does not do any good to the eyes. Make sure you have a good light source.

Taking a little time out to mentally re-focus Health & Wellness Tips (@ Work) Most folks drink tea or coffee while working at their desk. Instead, it is a healthier option to utilize this time to take a little mental break. Either one can simply breathe deep and relax with each sip or use that time to connect with other colleagues. Though apparently it may seem like a waste of time, such a short break can help in defeating work fatigue and informal co-worker interaction can help with better team bonding and increasing workforce morale.Picture

Taking short rest breaks: Take breaks from staring at computer screen or your mobile device. Staring at length tends to strain eyes. Ensure that you blink often, particularly during engaging activities. Rest your eyes by looking at something else every twenty minutes of focused activity. Cupping palms over closed eyes, also help to relax them.

Don't read in moving vehicles: Reading in moving vehicles is stressful on the eyes and can even hurt them. If you do need to read, try to blink often to reduce strain and look away from book/screen more often and focus on distant objects.

Keeping a good reading posture
: Awkward reading postures can lead to eye strain. Even at desk, make sure your computer monitor is situated such that you are slightly looking down to view the screen. Many people enjoy lying down in bed to read before going to sleep. Try to sit up with back support as opposed to lying down. If you wear reading glasses, make sure you are reading thru the proper calibrated lens area.

What is Colon Cleansing? How does it help in Maintaining Good Health?

10/12/2013

The idea of colon cleansing is that it eliminates toxin build up in the body and encourages healthy bacteria in the colon. It is the method of getting rid of the colon’s stool by using a variety of method such as enemas, teas, laxatives, supplement and enzymes. The two types of colon cleanses are visiting a practitioner or buying the appropriate products.

It is possible to cleanse the colon by taking supplements orally, while others are inserted via the rectum. Magnesium, enemas, laxatives, teas and enzymes can be purchased in grocery stores, pharmacies or on the Internet. The second method, which involves seeing a practitioner, is the more popular option.

The practitioner will have you lie down a table in order to perform the “colon irrigation”.  A thin tube is introduced into your rectum, which will guide the flushes of water appropriately. When the colon has water in it, the practitioner tends to apply mild pressure to the abdominal area.
The water is then released, similarly to typical bowel movement, and takes out toxins and fluid with it. The entire process can take an hour. Varieties in treatments include temperature, pressure and various water combinations such as probiotics, coffee or enzymes.

Colon cleansing works with the idea that toxins build up over time in the colon and eventually effects circulation of the blood.

This can cause headaches, increase in weight, reduced energy levels and fatigue. It is believed that those who receive colon cleanses have a healthier immune system, better outlook on life and less chance of developing colon cancer.
Picture
It is meant to help the digestive system function better because it allows waste to pass more freely through the body. This also helps maintain regular bowel movements and reduces the chance of constipation.

When waste spends time absorbing in to the system, the toxins will eventually reach the bloodstream and can cause ailments like hemorrhoids. Once the waste if removed from the body, many clients feel that they have more energy, better sleep and blood circulation.

Once the colon has been cleansed it tends to allow nutrients and vitamins to be absorbed into the blood, instead of harmful bacteria or toxins that have built up in the walls of the colon.

It is also a preferred method of weight loss because it eliminates food that is low in fiber and gives your colon a fresh start, which can help boost your metabolism and give you a chance to make healthier food and lifestyle choices.

5 Ways to Use "Smart Snacking" to Lose Weight

You can lose weight if you take healthy snacks, but they should be balanced in terms of nutrition, and calories should not exceed the required amount. There are various ways through which you can lose extra pounds through regular snacking.

Replace cappuccino with white tea
Though, taking coffee is very healthy, but it’s not healthy if you want to reduce fat. As, cappuccino is full of cream and sugar having 150 calories, so you can replace it with white tea like green tea which has only 3 calories, moreover its rich in antioxidants which help fight many diseases.
Replace chocolate with protein bar
A 50 grams chocolate bar has 255 calories with 15 grams of fat, and 7 grams of sugar. You can take protein bar to satisfy your craving habit. This bar is given a chocolate flavor and the best is that has 5 grams of fat, 15 grams of protein and the carbohydrates are 10 grams.

Replace dried fruits with berries or almonds
Dried fruits are rich in sugar, so stay away from dried mango, raisins, dates because they will increase your weight. You can eat berries mixed with almonds, as 50 grams of it has only 100 calories, whereas 50 grams of dried fruit has 150 calories. Berries not only give energy, but also strengthen muscles, enhancing HGH i.e. human growth hormone.

Replace light yogurt with natural one
Many people take diet yogurt but they don’t know that it is high in cal than natural yogurt of same quantity. You can add cinnamon in natural yogurt because it also helps in reducing weight. For one serving you can use one teaspoon of cinnamon. A normal tub of light yogurt has 200 calories, whereas the natural yogurt of same quantity has 160 calories.
Picture
Replace chocolate cookies with cocoa ball

Chocolate cookie has 140 calories, whereas cocoa ball has 100 calories. A chocolate chip cookie is made with sugar, refined flour, and both increase weight, moreover they are not healthy because they have visceral fat which causes diabetes and heart disease. So, better make cocoa balls, as raw cocoa has antioxidants and no sugar, besides its rich in chromium which regulates the blood sugar levels hence reduces weight.
Picture
To make these balls, take 1 cup of nuts, half cup of mixed seeds, a few berries, a dessert spoon of cocoa, and then mix them all in a blender. Make small balls with it sprinkled with coconut or cocoa powder, and freeze it in an airtight container before serving.

There are several such ways which can be used to reduce weight with smart snacks.
