According to experts, snacking between meals is very healthy in many ways. The research shows that athletes can perform better if they take a healthy snack before any sport.

Such snack should low in fat but high in carbohydrates. Nutritionists say that, you should take three meals per day with two snacks between them, i.e. one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

With Snacks you can get rid of your craving habits, because snacks between meals help in maintaining the blood sugar levels. A sugary snack like chocolate can increase the sugar level by releasing the sugar in the blood.

The insulin becomes active during the sugar intake, showing high sugar level followed by lower sugar level. This research shows that your blood sugar level can be very low before the snack, that’s why you feel tired.
On the other hand, taking large meals will affect the digestive system, because the body has to struggle a lot to convert the food into energy, hence it causes bloating and low energy. However, if you eat less in several meals, it will divide the calories and your body will get energetic.

Nutritionists recommend three to four hours between meals and snacks, and if you do it on regular basis, the blood sugar level will remain normal, making you active. You also become aware of the calories and fat level that you are taking in a day.

But, you should choose the snacks carefully as if they are too sugary then they will harm you instead of giving any benefit. In such case you should only have three meals in a day, but if you choose the snacks carefully then you should go for five meals a day including the snacks. It all depends on how much calories you are taking because it should not exceed the healthy limit.

Hence, the meal should be planned in terms of blood sugar level and energy, as healthy snacks are essential for people with type 2 diabetes, because they can control the level.

The number of meals also depends on the timings of main meals, your weight, and your preferences. By planning the snacks you will get healthy diet or you will end up with chocolates and candies, etc.

Some people have low blood sugar before sleeping, so they should take snack before 1 or 2 hr of sleeping, so that the blood sugar level remain controlled.
