The Healthy Benefits of Eating Spelt

The awareness of eating whole grain foods is gaining high popularity however, not all will have a spelt on their minds for whole grain foods. Eating this grain brings a lot of healthy benefits for the reason that it’s high in fiber, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, to name a few, that brings a lot of healthy benefits to the body. 

Eating whole grain food is known to be very beneficial to the human health. As for eating spelt, some find it a good alternative instead of eating whole wheat because it’s easier to digest. Those who have diabetes don’t need to worry about blood sugar level because the carbohydrate contents of this grain will slowly digest.

Older women who are on the menopausal stage can eat spelt as their source of fiber and carbohydrates, and have a lesser tendency of having breast cancer. Women on the same age with less fiber intake are more susceptible to having breast cancer. Lignans that is abundant in spelt, a compound that is only found in plants, is proven to regulate or stop of growth of tumor that may lead to colon, breast, and prostate cancer. 

Men and women are too concerned about high cholesterol so they tend to do more exercise. Diet plays a very important role in reducing the cholesterol level in the body. It has the beneficial compounds found in plants known that are known to regulate the cholesterol accumulation of the body.

Those who have diabetes need to be very careful with their carbohydrate intakes. The glycemic index content of spelt is much lower compared to processed and commercialized wheat, plus it has necessary vitamins, minerals, and high fiber, that regulate the secretion of blood sugar in the body. It’s proven to lessen the possibility of getting diabetes 2.

Increasing the consumption of natural fiber is proven to lower the risk of getting asthma. Though this illness is not a common problem in other corners of the world, 50 percent of children in the United States have asthma. Series of thorough studies proved that eating spelt and other similar plants is effective to combat the mentioned illness.

Those who just want to satisfy their hunger without having the loads of carbohydrates in an instant can definitely enjoy spelt on their meals. Aside from the fact that it’s very tasty, it’s good for those who have wheat allergies particularly those who have celiac disease.
