Cauliflowers are known as cruciferous vegetables belonging to the cabbage family. This vegetable is special in many ways and is often kept away from light so as to ensure that its curds remain white. It is easy to identify cauliflower from its florets. The most common type of this plant is the white cauliflower though there are other colors of flowers such as purple and green. Cauliflowers can be purchased from the grocery store and when doing so, opt for those with compact curds with un-separated bud clusters as they are the healthiest. However, purchased or cooked cauliflowers should be used within three days so as to get the nutrition content from them. 

Here are some health benefits of cauliflowers:
Used as antioxidants
What many people do not know is that cauliflowers are perfect antioxidants. They contain carotenoid compounds like beta-carotene which will help in relieving the body off radical compounds. Such compounds also reduce the risk of cancer related diseases and minimize the chances of getting oxidative stress. Cauliflowers also have manganese and vitamin C which have been known as some of the most powerful antioxidant compounds.

Used as a source of nutrients
Cauliflowers are highly nutritious as they contain vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B9. The plant also contains omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin k. As such, if you ever want to nourish your body with proteins, potassium and phosphorus, they are the best meals to take. 

Helps in detoxification
Cauliflowers are a source of glucosinolates and thiocyanates which are useful in the process of increasing the liver’s capability to neutralize toxic substances. Such toxic substances can cause diseases and lead to various types of cancers. Cauliflowers help in detoxifying the body leading to healthy and fruitful life.

Useful in cancer prevention
If you doubt it, research has proved it! It is certain that diets with cauliflowers will prevent cancers such as bladder cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer and breast cancer from occurring on your body system. Cauliflower has a compound which has the ability to resist and eliminate cancer causing enzymes from the body system.

Cleanses the digestive system
Did you know that cauliflowers can cleanse your digestive system? Drinking a cup of boiled cauliflowers everyday will ensure intake of dietary fiber useful for cleansing the digestive system. There is also an advantage in intake of glucoraphin present in every cup of boiled cauliflowers. This compound is useful to the stomach linings and acts by minimizing the possibilities of stomach ulcers and stomach related cancers.
