Amazing health benefits of eating Cauliflower

Cauliflower is one of the best cruciferous vegetables to incorporate into your diet. It provides a variety of health benefits when eaten on a regular basis. It is recommended to consume any type of cruciferous vegetable at least 3 times a week with a recommended serving size of a minimum of 1 cup.  Cauliflower has high vitamin C content, zero fat, potassium, fiber and folic acid.

The vitamin C in cauliflower is a powerful antioxidant that has cancer-fighting properties and helps prevent infection. It has other strong antioxidants including carotenoids and manganese. There are phytonutrients such as ferulic acid, caffeic acid, kaempferol and ferulic acid in cauliflowers as well. Regular consumption of foods high in antioxidants helps protect the body from damage caused by free radicals. It lowers the risks of various cancers and cardiovascular diseases.

Cauliflower has vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9 and K. It also has omega-3, which is fatty acid that is excellent for health. The vegetable is rich in phosphorus, protein and potassium. Indoles, a phytochemical, in cauliflower are an important factor in stimulating enzymes that prevent tumor growth.  Cauliflower is a natural detoxifier due to its thiocyanate and glucosinolate content, which help keep the liver healthy and aid the body in detoxification.

Diets that include cauliflower help to prevent various types of cancer, including breast, bladder, prostate, colon and ovarian cancer. This is largely due to the high nutritional content found in the vegetable that prevents and fights cancer. They are unique in their ability to get rid of enzymes that have been found to cause cancer. 

Dietary fiber content is high in cauliflower and aids the digestive system by cleansing and ridding the system of harmful substances. Glucoraphin is a compound in cauliflower that also protects stomach lining and lowers the risk of stomach cancer and ulcers. 

The vitamins, nutrients and omega-3 fatty acids in cauliflower make it an excellent anti-inflammatory. Regular consumption of cauliflower can greatly reduce the risk of inflammation related diseases including diabetes, arthritis, obesity and bowel disease. Chronic pain and types of bowel conditions can be prevented with the regular intake of vitamin K and omega-3 fatty acids. 

Due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds, cauliflower also prevents cardiovascular diseases. Cauliflower allows blood vessels to function at their best and promotes healthy blood flow. Cauliflower has allicin, a property is known for lowering the chances of heart disease and stroke.
