Swedish MassageĀ

One of the most popular types of massage, especially in the West, is the Swedish massage. It is excellent for those who have never experienced a massage before or those who do not receive them often. Swedish massages have varying degrees of intensity. You can receive a massage that is soft and slow or ask for one that is strong. Those who are better at handling some pain and want to get rid of aches in the muscle should opt for the Swedish massage known as a “deep tissue massage”.

Unlike the Asian massage techniques, Swedish massage uses Western anatomy ideas to treat the body. In Asia, the massages are typically linked to restoring and balancing energy in the body, whereas Swedish massages are more about curing the pain for what it is. A typical Swedish massage lasts approximately one hour, whilst a deep tissue massage is around an hour and a half.

Before the massage takes places, the therapist will want to know about your health and physical background. It is important for your therapist to know about any injuries or specific issues you might be dealing with. The last thing a therapist wants to do is to make things worse. Instead, they would like to know how to improve the area or the surrounding areas to aid in recovery and help eliminate discomfort after the session.

Swedish massage uses oil directly on the skin, which is excellent because there is no chance of getting hurt from rubbing. You will be nude for the massage with a sheet covering the areas that are not currently being massaged. Once the massage has started you can tell the therapist if you would like any alterations in pressure. Be sure to let the therapist know if you are in any unbearable pain as well.

The reasons that Swedish massages are so beneficial for the body are that they stimulate relaxation, reduce stress levels and increase flexibility. When we are stressed our bodies become tend and the massages help to get rid of the built up tension.

There is nothing quite as relaxing as having aches and tense spots loosened. The massage has an effect on the body that is similar to detoxing and therefore, after the massage, you should stay hydrated and try to avoid alcohol and other harmful substances after the session. It is recommended to stay away from vigorous activities for the next 24 hours in order for the body to heal optimally.
