Well, a Charmstone is a mineral specimen believed to have special healing, mystical or paranormal powers or energy. The mineral specimen may either be naturally occurring or honed from a natural stone. In some cases, the specimen may be entirely manufactured as in the case of certain Mayan pottery finds.
One also finds mention of charmstone in the Vajrayana tradition, where Jigme Lingpa has written a treatise on it’s usage. Charmstones were also used in prehistoric Native American ceremonies for various spiritual purposes such as securing a bountiful harvest.
Today charmstones are popular among certain counter-cultures in the Western society such as the New Age movement. Since the benefits of a charmstone cannot by proven thru usual scienetifc methods, belief in the powers of charmstones is criticized as being baseless and unscientific by scientists and medical professionals.
