The Power of Mother Nature’s Orange

What is made by Mother Nature is always healthy. This is what I read from certain articles the other day. Included in the examples are fruits which truly contain vitamins and minerals. Though you see it in multivitamins, which may be at par or exceeds its contents, fruits gives you that added enjoyment of its natural flavor. 

The orange fruit is more known for its Vitamin C, which helps boost the immune system. In addition, the same vitamin also aids in the healing of wounds. But, did you know that it can also help in lowering the blood pressure and the amount of cholesterol in the body? We mean the bad type of cholesterol. Yes, it can and in different types of preparation. 

Let us start from the outside. The orange peel has a natural occurring compound which was proven to be more effective in lowering the low-density lipoproteins, which is commonly known as bad cholesterol. This compound is known as polymethoxylated flavones. This was based on the study which was conducted by United States Department of Agriculture and KGK Synergize. In fact, the latter already developed its own supplement for sale in the market. But there are those individuals who are against the thought, which is still up for debate. 

Aside from polymethoxylated flavones, orange also contains pectin. This forms a bulky substance which aids in the elimination of bad cholesterol before it is absorbed by the body. It prevents the development of clots which can lead to a number of cardiovascular diseases. But, this should be eaten, not drank. So it is best avid using the juicer this time around. 

However, this does not mean that orange juice cannot help in preventing the development of high blood pressures. In fact, it also contains polymethoxylated flavones, but in lesser amounts. The effect of the compound was explained earlier. Research recommends the consumption of two orange juices a day and it does not matter if it is commercial or natural. As long as you drink it consistently, you will see results. In the study, it showed an increase of good cholesterol by 21 percent. The LDL, on the other hand, has decreased by eight percent. This is the result of taking in orange juice consistently; twice a day for four straight weeks. 

Who knew that orange has other health benefits other than what we know. Science and research has truly furthered the benefits of what Mother Nature has provided us thus far.
